The Global Ecology Lab sought cultural permission from the Kaurna people — the traditional owners of the lands and language of the Adelaide Plains of South Australia — to obtain an official translation of the lab: Partuyarta Ngadluku Wardli Kuu (The Globe is Our Home Room)
Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi is the leading group dedicated to Kaurna language revitalisation and maintenance. Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi confirm that that at a committee meeting held on 10/10/2019, the Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi group consulted and gave their cultural consent for Flinders University to use ‘Partuyarta Ngadluku Wardli Kuu — The Globe is Our Home Room’ for the name of their Global Ecology Laboratory.
Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi understands that Flinders University may promote and market the naming of ‘Partuyarta Ngadluku Wardli Kuu — The Globe is Our Home Room’ in the media across Australia and internationally.
Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi consents to Flinders University using the ‘Partuyarta Ngadluku Wardli Kuu — The Globe is Our Home Room’ for the purpose described above.
Flinders University will be liable to relay and/or utilise the correct information provided by Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi.
Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi understands Flinders University will acknowledge the source of the word, and keep Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi informed if it wants to use the name in any other way.
